Our exciting new yoga retreat cruise is available for private cruise charter, to transport a group of guests from the stresses of day-to-day living to reinvigorate body and soul. Our “Serenity at Sea” private charter cruise adds a yoga retreat to the relaxation and tranquillity of our cruises while discovering the inspirational islands of the Hebrides. This is an opportunity to start or deepen physical yoga practice, while immersed in stunningly beautiful locations and experiencing close encounters with nature and wildlife.
In August 2023, the Editor and Publisher of YOGA Magazine joined a yoga retreat cruise. Read the article about what they thought of their experience in YOGA Magazine.
The cruise is available for 3-nights or 6-nights and each day, the vessel visits a new, secluded location. Classes and workshops, led by an expert yoga practitioner, allows guests to connect back to themselves, diving deep into healing, meditation and ceremony. Whenever possible, sessions take place on the idyllic deserted white sand beaches and rocky coastlines of Mull, Iona and other islands.
The Crew for this specialist cruise are hand-picked to complement the retreat. The Skipper helps choose the best shore visits and sea journeys to synchronise with the yoga programme, as well as identifying potential wildlife encounters. The Chef provides delicious, healthy meals while the Steward is dedicated to providing outstanding hospitality and customer service.
The 3-night cruise itinerary visits the lochs and bays of the sound of Mull, before heading to the magical Cairns of Coll in search of cetaceans. On the final day the vessel drops anchor in one of the serene sea lochs on the south coast of Mull. A 6-night cruise would explore further around the Isle of Mull, visiting Idyllic Iona, Staffa and some of the other offshore islands.

Thank you to all who worked so hard to make my holiday all I could have wished it to be. The rest of the guests were good company and fun to be around. Yoga sessions well thought out, varied and fun. I especially enjoyed the time our skipper landed us all in remote and stunning locations. One of the most memorable places being the Isle of Gunna. This was where we were surprised after walking the dunes and enjoying yoga, to a birthday picnic of bubbly and cake on the beach. Thanks Sarah for having a birthday at just the right time. I haven’t felt so at peace yet so invigorated for a while I feel so blessed to have had such an experience of wilderness, sea, sand and amazing food. Our skipper was fantastic, scanning the horizon for wild life and things of interest while keeping us all safe. Seeing the area around Mull, Staffa (another memorable day), Inch Kenneth, Cairns of Coll and Ulva in all their glory from the sea was unforgettable. I enjoyed the week so much that I have booked a trip for my husband and me in 2025, on the Emma Jane with the same skipper, can’t wait.

The whole experience was amazing from start to finish, and that’s even though we never managed to reach the Outer Hebrides, like we'd been hoping (too much wind/swell in the Minch, thanks to hurricane remnants from across the Atlantic, so the Captain advised we turn back to Skye). We chartered the Emma Jane for 8 days, and there were three generations of us from 11 to 65 (including two kids). Most amazing was Chef Louis, who did the impossible, and served food to suit us all, despite our varied and complicated dietary issues. (Very, very tasty food too.) He was ably assisted by Jenny, our Steward, who kept everything running smoothly. And now everyone misses having their breakfast toast served to them in a Harris Tweed toast cosy. The scenery and wildlife were just as amazing, ably interpreted by our naturalist guide Lynsey. We had several pods of dolphins come surf the bow wave, much to everyone’s delight. As well as eagles and many other bird and mammal sightings, as well as rainbows, castles, perfect beachcombing beaches, and so much more. Lynsey led our rambles ashore, with options for the less energetic among us to still enjoy a stroll while those with younger knees tackled the hills. James, our captain, did a fine job of avoiding the worst of the swells, and he consulted with us each step of the way, so even though we were disappointed not to get to Lewis/Harris, we knew it was for the best. James and Lynsey also made for excellent hosts at dinner. This trip was to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and James managed to surprise us by having his daughter pipe in our cake while we were docked in Tobermory, in fine Scottish style. I’ll keep overusing the word “amazing” as it’s the only word which just about manages to capture the experience. Highly recommended. If you are thinking about doing a Hebrides cruise, do it, and do it with these people. You will not be disappointed. Thank you James, Lynsey, Jenny, and Louis; you made our trip extraordinary.
